Here's a fun story for you... Back in (I think it was June) three very talented guys were attending a sign makers workshop and talking smack...LOL...good ole friendly smack that is. They were: Dan Sawatzky, Jamie Oxenham and Doug Haffner. Eventually the talk turned to a challenge ... to build a second addition to the original "Institute for Study of Mechanical Marine Life" sign originally created by Oxenham Design. The rules were simple, the sign must be 3d, and contain the text "The Institute for Study of Mechanical Marine Life" and contain some sort of marine creature. The deadline was set to be Canadian Labour Day...but was eventually extended to Halloween.
Each entrant will include a small blurb regard the direction they chose for the sign, as well as any backstory to bring the sign to life. After the three started posting their progress on their blogs the friendly "competition" went global! So...after a series of delays I've finally got my hands on some material and have started to make some progress. Stay tuned here for progress reports on this and many other fun projects. Check out some of the other entries here: http://forums.oxenhamdesign.com/post?id=6424247 Hello everyone and welcome to my first posting to my journal. What's this all about? Well, if you visit here often I will try to have something new or different or unique or informative to read at least twice a week if not more. Most of my posts will be about projects I'm currently working on. You can also check my "In the Works" gallery for photos of projects that in the process of being made.
I also have a facebook page that you can check out for photos of projects past, present and future. I will also be happy to hear your feedback and questions about my projects, methods, materials, etc. and I look forward to hearing yours as well. My next post will be about a friendly competition I'm taking part in with friends and colleges in a variety of 3D themed industries from around the world. Loads of fun so stay tuned. Thanks for checking in and I hope you enjoy following my fun and creative journey. Stay Creative! > Ryan aka RKG |
